Jean-Bedel Bokassa: the Central African tyrant who tried to rule the world, Napolean style!



Jean-Bedel Bokassa (February 22, 1921-November 3, 1996) became the ruler of the Central African Republic by virtue of a coup d'etat in which he overhtrew the government at that time. He and David Dacko had serious tensions, which led to some serious issues between the two men. Bokassa was backed up by Frace as well as Muammar al-Gaddafi. In 1980, he was sentenced to death for numrous crimes, including murder of political rivals, cannibalism, etc. He was released in 1993, only to die in 1996 of natural causes.
