 Joseph Joffre: the French general who untited retreating troops to defeat the Germans during World War 1!




Joseph Joffre (January 12,1852-January 3,1931) was a general in the French amry who gathered up retreating troops to return and defeat the Germans in the First Battle of the Marne during WW1. He retired in 1920 as a member of the Academie francaise. He died in 1931 after surviving the flu plague of 1918.
