Joseph Louis de Montcalm: the former French soldier who later became commander during the Seven Years War!




Joseph Louis de Montcalm (February 12,1712-September 14,1759) fought as a soldier, later commander of the Frech during the global Seven Years War. At the Battle of Carillon, fought on July 8,1758, Montcalm led the French army, numbered under 4,000, to an impressive victory over the numerically dominant British army, numbered over 16,000. It was believe to be the bloodiest of the battle during the global Seven Years War. The British army were led by Jason Abercrombie and George Howe, who was killed in the battle. Montcalm was later killed at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham.
